Data Lodge was one of the first services we offered at Third Hatch Inc. In 2003, we were on the cutting edge of offsite backup using online services. Before this, offsite backup required manual work to transport the backups somewhere else.

It has proven to be an important service for our clients. For over 15 years it has proven to be a reliable method for nightly backups and archival copies of files for data protection and compliance purposes. We even have the ability to provide local encrypted copies to hybridize the service for further speed and reliability. It has saved many of our clients from going out of business.

Data backup is an important tool even if you use cloud storage for your files. Cloud storage is volatile, which means if you make a change locally, it is synchronized to the cloud. This can be problematic if you or someone else made changes that need to be rolled back or recovered or if a file was accidentally deleted, etc. There are many scenarios where cloud storage simply doesn't protect from data loss because of the instant synchronization features. While many cloud services support file versioning and may store a few versioned copies of each file, this is limited in scope and may still leave your organization open to accidental data loss.
